giving back to community

As a queer woman and intersectional activist, it is important to me to give back to my local community as I am able.

To date, I have donated more than $4,500 from my candle sales to local causes, including food pantries, mutual aid networks, immigrant rights coalitions, organizations that uplift Black and Indigenous communities, LGBTQ+ resources, animal rescues, and more.

For more than a year, my model was to donate $1 from every candle sold. And, as much as I wanted to continue doing that, it has simply not been sustainable. My candle studio is a one-woman operation, and I am disabled with 6 autoimmune diseases and a rare neurological disease, and I cannot work the number of hours needed to earn a living wage income with this very small, home-based business. My supply and shipping costs have also skyrocketed, leaving very little money at the end of the day to keep my business afloat.

While I am no longer able to sustain the $1 per candle giveback program, I am still committed to doing my part in my community. I continue to make donations to local causes, donate my products to fundraisers, and volunteer my time and skills as I am able.

Thank you for supporting my small business and helping me to give back in the ways I am able!

keep shining,
Heather
